DOG CAGE
LOGLINE: A homeless woman takes a live-in job at a remote research compound, only to discover she’s the bait in a sadistic experiment forcing a genetically engineered dog-man to choose between following orders or saving the only human he trusts.
SYNOPSIS:
Kacy, a homeless young woman hardened by years on the street, accepts a live-in position at a remote research compound, lured by the promise of stability and pay. With nowhere else to go, she travels deep into an isolated forest to work for the composed and enigmatic Dr. Thorn.
Upon arrival, Kacy quickly realizes she is not an assistant, but a controlled stimulus in a closed experiment. Dr. Thorn has engineered Victor, a human-canine hybrid designed to exhibit absolute obedience -- a prototype for a new class of weaponized soldiers. Possessing enhanced strength, intelligence, and animal instinct, Victor is conditioned to follow commands without hesitation.
Kacy is placed in confinement and used as the central stimulus in a series of escalating behavioral trials designed to test Victor’s limits.
The first phase deprives Victor of food, forcing him to confront his predatory instincts while Kacy is positioned as a source of temptation.
The second phase introduces sexual and psychological provocation - testing his impulse control.
The third phase examines whether emotional attachment can override conditioned obedience.
Initially terrified, Kacy begins to recognize that Victor is as much a prisoner as she is. Through small acts of care and communication, the two form a fragile bond. Victor, who has only known command and response, begins to exhibit hesitation, restraint, and ultimately choice. For the first time, he resists his conditioning.
Dr. Thorn views this development not as progress, but as contamination.
To complete the experiment, he issues a final directive: Victor must terminate the stimulus. Kacy is released with a head start into the surrounding wilderness, while Victor is commanded to hunt her down.
As the pursuit unfolds, it becomes clear that Victor is no longer acting purely on command. He covertly aids Kacy’s escape, sabotaging his own body to maintain the illusion of compliance. Kacy reaches the edge of the property and escapes onto a nearby highway at dawn.
Behind her, Dr. Thorn observes what he interprets as a success: Victor chose pain over instinct, reinforcing the appearance of obedience. Satisfied that the data has been collected, he euthanizes Victor, eliminating what he considers a flawed subject.
Believing she is finally free, Kacy is confronted one last time when Dr. Thorn pulls up beside her on the side of the highway, calm and composed, offering her payment. The transaction reframes her entire ordeal -- not as survival, but as completion.
Dr. Thorn offers her a ride into the city and Kacey jumps into the passenger seat.
The final image of a new plaque on Dr. Thorn’s trophy wall reveals a disturbing conclusion that Kacy will not make it “home” safe…
DOG CAGE is a contained psychological sci-fi thriller that explores the boundaries between control and free will, and the cost of engineered loyalty in a world that seeks to weaponize it.
