I’m Tanuj Vyas, an independent filmmaker driven by the power of storytelling. My journey into cinema began with a deep passion for creating narratives that resonate with audiences. Through my production house, Legend DreamWorks, I’ve had the privilege of writing and directing films that explore diverse themes and emotions.
My directorial debut with a short film, The Legend of Kabira (2014), was a heartfelt story about a child’s dream of becoming a legend. From there, I explored different genres. Common Student (2015) explored the intensity of university politics, while Jhoothe Taare (2016) carried the essence of OSHO’s teachings through a children’s drama. In Think Power (2017), I experimented with human intelligence and abstract storytelling.
Many of my films have received international recognition, with Jhoothe Taare screening at eight international festivals and Think Power at five.
However, my feature film debut, Namak (Salt) (2020), was a turning point. This crime thriller, set in Rajasthan's raw landscape, won four awards at the Rajasthan International Film Festival 2022, including Best Film. It later found its home on the STAGE app, bringing Rajasthani-language cinema to a wider audience.
Second, a musical feature film, DJ Marwar (2024), was released on the STAGE app OTT, bringing its vibrant musical energy to audiences. This film marked another milestone in my journey, blending Rajasthani culture with a fresh cinematic approach.
Beyond filmmaking, I’ve had the opportunity to contribute to Indian entertainment in various roles. I worked closely with veteran actor Annu Kapoor as a Creative Associate and Executive Manager and as a co-writer for Suhana Safar with Annu Kapoor, India’s leading radio show for six consecutive years on 92.7 Big FM.
As the former Content Head - Rajasthani of STAGE App, I helped curate and showcase content in multiple Rajasthani dialects, celebrating the region’s linguistic diversity. At the heart of it all, my passion remains storytelling—whether through cinema, radio, or digital platforms. Every project I take on is an effort to bring unique, engaging narratives to life, and I look forward to continuing this journey with fresh perspectives and bold ideas.
