This film explores the relationship between architecture and nature through minimalistic and meditative cinematography, using natural sounds of the environment as its soundtrack. Shot exclusively in natural light over the course of one day, the film highlights architect Craig Steely's work in Captain Cook, Hawaii. The home has since been featured in the May/June issue of Dwell and is up for the 2021 AIA Honolulu People's Choice Award.

Director Biography - Myles Neith

Myles' love for film can be traced back to his childhood years where he developed a fascination for classics like The Shining, E.T., The Birds, and The Thing. Before embarking on a journey as a filmmaker, he toured internationally as an electronic music producer. His background in music gave him an appreciation for pacing, tone, and aesthetic which is seen in his approach to filmmaking. After nearly 7 years in producing, directing, and editing commercials he has shifted focus in creating narrative, documentary, and experimental films that lean heavily on natural light.

Director Statement

D Fin House was a special film for me. It was filmed during the height of the pandemic while I was working at an ad agency, where I didn't feel creatively fulfilled. This film helped me break out of my creative block and gave me a renewed confidence that I could do anything if I put my mind to it. This was filmed entirely in naturally light, on a single day from sunrise to sunset. At the end of the day the rain cleared out and a beautiful sunset broke through the clouds. I remember standing at the top of the pool, overlooking the Hawaiian coastline and I started to shed tears of joy. It was the first time since covid hit that I felt truly alive and hopeful for the future.
