Born and raised in Dublin, Ireland with Nepalese roots. Ashish has been creating films ever since he was a kid. Mainly focusing now on nurturing and telling stories about personal experiences and from his own culture too. Moving on forward he is driven to tell stories that are not told yet from his own background and give voice to those who need it.
I wanted to tell this very personal story freshly. For the longest time I imagined creating a film and a score to use in it. The opportunity presented itself when visions of this piece were crystalizing in my mind. Music has always been an integral part of the creative process and the guitar was used almost like a motif. It has really added a lot of character to the film as we worked quite hard on the score we wanted to translate that feeling throughout the film. The silence of grief the pain it brings and the innermost thoughts that want to expel out through the poetry.
I am beyond thrilled of the outcome of this project and it’s success so far. More so I feel more connected to my culture more than ever and this has been a stepping stone in telling stories that have been deeply rooted in me for years which I was afraid to tell and express myself as a person of color. Growing up I had an identity crisis, I didn’t feel like I belonged anywhere just somewhere stuck in a void.
Finishing this film last year is a start to a new journey for me
