Director Biography - Alex Barragan

ESP: Alex Barragan es un cineasta, mercadólogo y co-fundador de la casa productora mexicana Cine Chacal. Se ha desempeñado como productor en publicidad, videos musicales, 6 cortometrajes y el largometraje No vayas a clase mañana que fue estrenado en Austin Film Festival en 2021, mismo que se estrenará en salas de cine en México en 2023.
Co-dirigió y escribió el cortometraje Lord Basura, estrenado en 2022 en New York Latino Film Festival y que participo en Cannes Short Film Corner el mismo año. Recientemente dirigió y co-escribió Cuidando Rancho en colaboración con el actor mexicano Cristo Fernandez reconocido internacionalmente por su actuación en la serie ganadora de Emmys TED LASSO.
Alex se graduó de Mercadotecnia y relaciones comerciales por la Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara y ha continuado su formación con diferentes talleres y posgrados en Mexico y Estados Unidos en Sundance Institute además de haber sido acreedor a la beca “Emerging Content Creators” por parte de NALIP (National Association of latino Independent Producers) en 2021.
En 2022 fungió como profesor en el CEC (Centro de Estudios Cinematográficos) y esta involucrado en el desarrollo de varios proyectos cinematográficos participando como productor, escritor, director o asesor.

Alex Barragan is a filmmaker, marketer, and co-founder of the Mexican production company Cine Chacal. He has worked as a producer in advertising, music videos, 6 short films and the feature film No vayas a clase mañana, which premiered at the Austin Film Festival in 2021, and will be released in theaters in Mexico in 2023.
He co-directed and wrote the short film Lord Basura, which premiered in 2022 at the New York Latino Film Festival and which participated in the Cannes Short Film Corner the same year. He recently directed and co-wrote Cuidando Rancho in collaboration with Mexican actor Cristo Fernandez, internationally recognized for his performance on the Emmy-winning series TED LASSO.
Alex graduated in Marketing and Business Relations from the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara and has continued his training with different workshops and courses in Mexico and the United States at the Sundance Institute, in addition to having been awarded the "Emerging Content Creators" scholarship by NALIP ( National Association of Latino Independent Producers) in 2021.
In 2022 he served as a professor at the CEC (Centro de Estudios Cinematográficos) and is involved in the development of various film projects participating as a producer, writer, director or advisor.
