Director Biography - Yassine Abouhamid

Yassine Abouhamid is a self-taught filmmaker who possesses a genuine passion for contemporary arts, capturing them through his lens. Driven by a profound curiosity for storytelling, cinema, for him, is primarily an immersion into the emotions that each scene evokes. He is intrigued by the power of individuals to communicate deep feelings through their mere presence. When Yassine films, he synchronizes his energy with that of his subject. This is one of the reasons that led him to film dance and later collaborate on multidisciplinary choreographic creations.

Director Statement

As a filmmaker, I always try to bring the ideas and issues that I can relate to the most, and see them from another perspective.
My filming is based on experimenting and curiosity, and that also includes working with other artists from different backgrounds and disciplines to expand the limits and add to my knowledge.
I believe to share my culture and my philosophy through films. I try to keep my filming style distinguished and noticeable. And my process to achieve that consists in writing and asking multiple questions and that also includes the use of any cinematographic techniques to ease the delivering.
