I took flying lessons in Santa Barbara, piloting a Cessna 152. I had a couple of close encounters with a United jet on final that missed its' call. It made me realize how delicate the coordination is in the airspace surrounding busy airports.

So, I set out to create a female protagonist who could stand up in a man's world and explore the sometimes tricky relationships between the joy and fear of flying and public safety.

But as a young college student, it all became too expensive.
