Covid 19.Crisis 2020: GDL-MX

Daniel Leal, better known as 9, is a Mexican theatre director. 9 has recently made incursions in filming industry. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Dramatic Arts from the University of Guadalajara in Mexico. 9 was a studied dramatic arts as an exchange student at the University of Tucuman in San Miguel de Tucumán in Argentina. There, 9 specialized in stage directing and pantomime under the tutelage of the twice national awarded Chilean-Argentinian mime, Mauricio Semelman and Étienne Decroux.
At the University of Audiovisual Media in Guadalajara, Mexico, 9 honed his director skills. He created a film production company called Camara en Mano. His production company has produced several short narrative films and commercials with 9 serving as director.
9 continues to direct theatrical productions some of which have been recognized at national festivals.
In 2015, 9 directed the short narrative film titled “A Bill’s Story” which was selected as finalist in the Public Information an Openness Institute of Jalisco’s Short Film Announcement.
In 2019, 9 along with writer, Paola CruzRod, founded Teatro de Escombros (Debris Theatre). This theater and film company is focused on social conscious activities using Augusto Boal’s Theatre of the Oppressed technique.
9 is the director of the documentary Covid -19. Crisis 2020:GDL-MX.
