Illustration, design, VR filmmaking, videography, animation, and even live analog visuals are central to Evan Carter's work. Including independent projects and commercial work for entities such as SONY.
Evan is a Swiss Army Knife of textures, mediums, and techniques with the common theme of psychedelia in color and dreamlike nature.
As a child, Evan began his journey in stop-motion with his LEGOs, and in adolescence moved to 2D animation, psychedelic artwork, as well as creating short films inside VR that were released online.
During his time in the VR film scene, he gained a following of various volunteers and passionate people from all over the world who collaborated as actors or other crew in his films.
In college, while working on his documentary VR: A Digital Frontier, Evan picked up live-action videography and quickly got various jobs filming events or for local short films.
Corner Cuisine is the culmination of my everything I have learned and completed as an animator. The senior year animation capstone film is the final project in higher education for the field and ever since I started animation ten years ago as a child, I watched other capstones imagining what mine would be. None of it mattered however when the time came, and all of my previous ideas weren't good enough and weren't practical for the deadlines. In the span of an hour, I wrote down what would become Corner Cuisine which is based on a preexisting sci-fi universe of my design. Countless hours and nights of pure passion were put into the world of this film with characters and story that I can be greatly satisfied with in my journey as an animator. This film I feel earned me my wings.
If my younger self who was starting in animation saw this film, I feel he would be very proud.
