Conveyance
Longline: After years of searching, Brian and Suzanne finally find their dream home. As they realise they share the space with a malevolent force, how much are they willing to put up with to stay there?
BBFC Rating: PG (Mild Swearing, Non-sexual nudity)
Synopsis: Between being constantly outbid on dilapidated houses, and deadline with an odd roommate penchant for being naked, house hunting has not been easy for young couple Brian and Suzanne. They can't believe their luck when they finally find their dream home - and at a price that’s almost too good to be true. After moving into their brand new, sea facing South Dublin apartment, they soon discover that this idyllic spot isn’t quite what it seems.
When objects start moving of their own accord, Brian begins to suspect Apartment 19 in the Seaview complex is haunted and even calls in spiritual assistance (much to Suzanne’s irritation). As tensions escalate between the couple, and as their living situation becomes borderline dangerous, Suzanne and Brian must face an impossible dilemma. How much are they willing to put up with to keep their dream home?

From interfering priests to spiritual charlatans, how much would you put up with if it meant you could live in your dream home? On the surface, Conveyance is a ghost story set in the backdrop of one of the major setbacks for our entire generation, the housing crisis. However at its heart this is a love story about a young couple. Suzanne is a direct, practical woman who does not have time for ghosts, let alone the people that believe in them, while Brian is a sensitive, introverted, spiritualist struggling to be heard. These two very different people are about to take this massive next step in their relationship - but find themselves at an impasse. This malevolent spirit forces Brian and Suzanne to evaluate the difficult question: are they really meant to be together?
I will be always grateful to the support of Dromglen productions, whose knowledge and patience knows no bounds, and allowed us to aim much higher than we probably should have. Shot over five days in total with a wonderful cast and crew, our horror/comedy Conveyance plays with the classic tropes of the genre. Captured through the beautiful lens of Jaro Waldeck, and with the creative design of Orla Maker, we were able to bring a distinct and modern aesthetic to our world. Paying homage to some of our old horror favourites, pacing was always going to be key, and the film was skillfully edited by horror aficionado Phil Shanahan. Natasa Paulberg’s unique score under Andy Kirwan's sound mix elevated our scares as well as our emotional beats. Underpinning every element was the chemistry and warmth between Chrissie Cronin and Patrick Martins. Our two leads created intimacy and history for Suzanne and Brian. Their powerful performances were the driving force of every scene.
