Color Of Love

Love and friendship can mend every broken bridge, just like it did for Jimi and Tyler ( two teen best friends of different ethnic background ). It started out as a beautiful day, that the boys had planned to meet at their spot where their friendship had started and grown, but for Martha Cloutier, Tyler's Mother ( Caucasian ), the morning filled with a garden of flowers is ruined when she sees the usual neighbor taking out her trash bag. Martha stares unflinchingly at the black woman whom she believes is unworthy to be a resident of the area meant for the wealthy class who had white skin color. She stays her mean looking gaze on Adenike Oluyele ( Jimi’s mother ) until Douglas, Martha’s husband comes out to pull her back to the house.

Tyler chides his mother for equating the meaning of wealth to the environment they live in and social status rather than having happiness and good health, especially knowing that he’s been ill for a while battling a health condition. He storms out of the house after breakfast to the basketball court. Adenike tells her husband Tunde and her son, Jimi, that she has had enough of the Douglas’ family show of disdain. Jimi tells her she is exaggerating, and Tunde (Adenike’s husband ) agrees with their son as both leave the house, Tunde to work and, Jimi, to the basketball court to meet with Tyler. On the court, Tyler who has a kidney disease collapsed and was rushed to the hospital.

A kidney transplant is required urgently, and to the shock of both families who had met at the hospital. Jimi is a perfect match for Tyler and has volunteered to gift his friend one of his kidneys, a rare act of “Love that has no color or racial boundary” which was the inspiration for the title of this project, ending the film in an emotional moment with all families embracing themselves.
