Cold Call

Guy is a top performing cold caller on the brink of his best month yet. Inside a busy call centre driven by leaderboards and pressure, he knows how to push through objections and keep people on the line. One more call will lock in the numbers that define his place on the floor.

That final call does not go to script. As Guy drives the pitch, something else starts to break through the line. Hesitation. Fear. Another man in the background. What he treats as resistance begins to feel wrong. Tethered to his desk by his headset cord and pushed by his manager to hang up, Guy is forced into a choice between closing the call or staying on it.

As the situation escalates, Guy’s confidence collapses and the system he depends on turns against him. Choosing to stay on the line costs him his job and his status, but it gives him agency for the first time. When the call ends, Guy steps outside into the ordinary world and takes action, carrying the weight of what he heard and the certainty of who he is now.
