Paul Ouellette is a Film Director, Photographer & Musician based in San Francisco, California. Using Mixed Media techniques he creates stylized and ethereal worlds to take audiences out of their comfort zones and provide new perspectives and understanding.
A painting is more than something that hangs on a wall. It is a document of a place in time. It represents the artists' emotions and intentions. It comes to represent a feeling of home for it's owner. In this respect, a painting is like a film. And it was our aim with this film to make it like a painting. Not just documenting time but conveying and representing the feelings encapsulated in Valentin's work.
When I first saw his artwork, I was immediately inspired by it and as I grew to know him, I became inspired as well by who he is and the way he lives his life. Val is able to make incredible things happen through just his will and a sense of optimism. I knew that, for him, this time in his life was an incredible transition; the achievement of a lifelong goal of moving to San Francisco to be an artist here.
That's one thing I very much appreciate about The City. People come from all over the world to be inspired by it. They come to be a part of it's legend. I too came a long way for that same reason. So, for Val and I, this film represents the shared sense of wonderment and inspiration that we first felt when we arrived here. Through him and the process of making this film, I was able to feel that again. So, from Val, myself and the crew, we sincerely hope audiences all over can share in that same feeling. Thank you and we hope you enjoy Co.Ink ♡
