Director Biography - Aika Kirei

Aika is a writer, director, and filmmaker based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. She is moved to tell the oft-unexplored stories of daily, lived experiences tucked away in everyday moments, which are the basis of the vitality and complexity of thriving local cultural expressions.

She has written and produced graphic novels, radio dramas, podcasts, and award-winning animated series. A National Geographic Explorer and PADI certified advanced open water diver, Aika is endlessly fascinated by nature, humans, and history.

Climate in the Minds of Artist is the first documentary that she has directed, produced, and edited.
