Director Biography - Davide Arduca

Davide Arduca was born in Palmi, a small town in southern Italy, and developed his interest in cinema while attending secondary school.

In 2018, he moved to Rome, where he began a three-year course at the Academy of Fine Arts, attending the School of Cinema, Photography, and Audiovisual Arts.

During these years, he learned and developed his own photographic and multimedia language, experimenting with various aspects of cinema and also taking part in the design and creation of collective video installations in an academic setting, graduating in Photography and Video in 2022.

In the same year, he wrote and directed his first short film, Mosca Bianca, in which he addresses, through Janine, the protagonist suffering from mental alienation, the social discomfort in which she is forced to live. Developing a particular interest in writing and film directing, he decided to continue his academic career, enrolling in the course in Audiovisual Theories and Techniques.

In 2023, he co-wrote and directed the independent short film Il gioco delle parti, which tells the story of a young employee who finds himself coming to terms with an unknown part of himself.
In 2024, he wrote and directed the short film “Claude,” collaborating with the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and professor Giancarlo Torri. The film was selected for the Kuala Lumpur International Film Academy Awards 2024 and the First-Time Filmmaker Session 2025. The story is about a young university professor with a limp who gets his first temporary job in Rome. He soon finds himself facing yet another difficulty: the desperate search for accommodation.

In the same year, in the academic field, he wrote and directed, in collaboration with four other authors, the web mini-series “Speedy Food,” which tells the story of a delivery boy who finds himself in a strange chain of unusual coincidences and is forced to commit several murders in order to save himself. In November of the same year, he took part in the filming of the movie “À rebours, controcorrente” as assistant director to Angelo Antonucci. In 2025, he collaborated as assistant director and editor with Donatella Baglivo on the biographical film “Fellini, il fabbricante di sogni,” which was presented at the Cannes Film Festival.

In the same year, he completed his studies, graduating for the second time, and directed “Eco,” his third short film, which he also wrote. It tells the story of Nataša, a Russian girl who wanders between her memories and the desolate fields of the coldest land in the world, between love, echoes of war, and farewells.
