Cicatrices (Scars)

In times of isolation, fear and misinformation, the body of a mother and her newborn form invisible scars that will remain in the memory of their bodies. This poetic documentary micro-short recounts the experiences of four women who gave birth during the pandemic. The deep joy of the long-awaited encounter, accompanied by the loneliness of not being able to feel the hugs of those who are eagerly awaiting them. Life itself is responsible for healing these unexpected scars.

Director Statement

This short documentary is an ode to life and hope, where we understand ourselves as beings capable of surviving and finding light even in the darkest moments. The pandemic is not over, and it is not so clear when it will end, so we must adapt to this new "normal". I hope that this short documentary will serve as a testimony, but also as support to all those women who are pregnant or thinking of assuming the commitment to give birth in a context that at first seems hostile, but that without a doubt, is renewed with the love of bringing a new life to this world.
