Chinese Pioneers- Western Australia

At the end of 1829, the Chinese immigrant to Western Australia had come with the British settlers who came to the colony. The Chinese faced unwelcoming and even hostile circumstances after 1901. The Chinese community organisation "Chung Wah Association" was officially registered in the Supreme Court of Western Australia on 12 July 1910. For 100 years, the Chinese settlers made their contributions to promote Chinese culture and fostered goodwill between the Chinese and the local community.

Director Biography - Ying Chu

Ying was born in Taiwan and moved to Australia in 2010. She grew up in Taichung and finished her nursing bachelor's degree in Taiwan in 2003. She started her performance career in 2004. For six years of her performance life, she went to many countries such as China, HK, Japan, the USA, and Singapore and worked with different backgrounds performers. These experiences affected her idea and developed her independent personality.
In 2015, she started learning the English language at South Metropolitan TAFE WA and finished the UNI Preparation course at Edith Cowan University in 2019. In 2020, she studied a screen production course and focused on producing and directing. She expected to create works that combined western and eastern cultures to present diverse cultures and bring the results into the international market.
