The short film <Chicken Run> is an attempt to portray the pervasive defeatism of youth in contemporary Korean society through magical realism and black comedy.
Although produced as a university project, the film utilized a significant budget. It can be said that the very core of this film is its magical realism and black comedy setting, where a character’s body transforms into fried chicken. Our production team invested a great deal of effort and budget to realize this setting and make it believable for the audience.
I believe that a truly resonant story is one that is neither purely tragic nor solely comedic. There is power in being able to find laughter within sorrow, and a story becomes more profound when hidden sadness exists beneath a seemingly light exterior. I trust that <Chicken Run> will be perceived by the audience as a film that captures this delicate balance.
I sincerely hope that many people enjoy our film. Thank you.
