Chhoti Baarish (Little Rain)
Life insists that we sing before we speak, and dance before we walk. Every child arrives as a fully- formed artist, until society slips them a script and calls it 'growing up’. Chhoti Baarish (Little Rain) is set amid an isolated Indian village with lush meadows and grazing cattle. Through the eyes of a small innocent boy, this film sings his desire to dance in the rain, despite being incessantly scolded by his folks for his nonchalant mischief all the time.

Ritopriyo Saha is a writer, director, music composer and contemporary visual artist born in Kolkata, presently based in Bengaluru (India). Times of India has recently published an article about his progressive outlook on present day performance art forms.
Ritopriyo writes theatre & film scripts, short stories & poetry. He also composes original instrumental music on the piano. His devout interest in theatre & filmmaking has brought him to write & direct independent films with original stories, which have received nominations, awards and critical acclaim in film festivals around the world like Jaipur International Film Festival 2025 (India), Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival 2025 (India), Ahmedabad International Children Film Festival 2024 (India), Golden Lion International Film Festival 2024 (India), Intimalente Film Festival 2019 (Italy), Music Shorts Audience Award 2019 (USA), Montgomery International Film Festival 2019 (USA), Reels of Fire Film Festival 2019 (India), Anekhaarthi Film Festival 2019 (India) and Lift-Off Film Festival 2019 (UK).
It all started on a rainy afternoon, as the director watched a peculiar dance between curiosity and constraint –a young child transfixed by falling raindrops. His gaze full of wonder and longing, as though he was ready to dive into the downpour. Yet, something held him back. Was it a cautious parent nearby, or the subtle influence of society's unspoken rules? This fleeting balcony scene
became the heartbeat of "Chhoti Baarish", a film that asks: when did we start unlearning our original art? When did we learn to trade joy for propriety?
