Casa di Famiglia (Family House)
Two cousins, Andrea and Ludovica, meet again, after almost 30 years, to sign the deed of the sale of the country house of their grandparents, where they have spent every summer as children, up until their teenage years. In such a meaningful place, the memories of a hot summer afternoon of the seventies, forcefully insinuate themselves through the present and animate the silent rooms of the house, which is now empty and ready to be abandoned. This day gives Andrea and Ludovica the chance to reconnect with one another and is the occasion to live the past once more and, at the same time, to say farewell to it.

Giulia Mello Ceresa was born in Biella, the 15th September 1995. She moves to Milan to study Communication, Media and Marketing at IULM University. Always a cinephile, while taking a creative writing class, she realizes she wants to be more than a spectator to movies and decides to learn how to write a script. For this reason, in 2018, she moves to Turin and is admitted to the Holden School for Direction, Screenplay and Film production.
Francesca Sofia was born in Lamezia Terme, the 20th February 1995. At the age of eighteen she moves to London, where she attends a course in museums and curating at the Sotheby’s Institute of Art. Then, she studies Visual Cultures at the Goldsmiths College and graduates with first-class honours at the Goldsmiths College of London. While studying, she collaborates with UAL’s photojournalism students, helping them with the artistic direction of their documentaries and curating the exhibition for their graduation. After five years living in London, she is admitted to the Holden School for Direction, Screenplay and Film production where she wants to pursue her passion for writing. She is enthusiastic about screenplay classes and she engages with the direction of various short films, putting to good use the study of image composition learnt from her previous education.
Giulia and Francesca meet at Holden School and, together with a group of colleagues, they write the screenplay of ‘Casa di Famiglia’, the short film with which they graduate. Together, they co-direct the movie, finding out they work with chemistry and great sinergy.
‘Casa di Famiglia’ is an ode to memories. It creates a steady dance between present and past,
bringing the feelings of the protagonists at the centre of the narration. It wants to emphasize the
bittersweet value of memories, which we believe are the most precious holdings in one’s life while simultaneously being also its most painful one.
