Carter Cavanaugh is a filmmaker, artist, and production designer based in Brooklyn, NY. Their work ranges between film production and live theater, as well as personal art sales. Their specific niches lie in concept art and scenic painting, and they are also vastly experienced in set dressing, construction, and storyboarding.
They graduated from Montclair State University with a BFA in Filmmaking in 2020, receiving "Best Director" and "Best Screenwriter" awards at their graduation ceremony. Carter worked 4 years as a scene shop assistant at MSU's Department of Theater and Dance as well. Since graduating, Carter has gone on to win several awards for their short films "Apparition" and "Antique Failure."
As a nonbinary creative, Carter’s mission statement is to create space for marginalized representation both on and off-screen.
