Carl completed his acting studies at the Folkwang University of the Arts Essen/Bochum. Since then he has appeared in various major theatre productions at the Theater Dortmund, Schauspielhaus Bochum and also the Berliner Ensemble, among others. Roles such as Marquis de Posa, Hamlet or his two-hour solo as Werther are part of his repertoire and have shaped his career. Carl made his television debut in 2017 on ZDF (Notruf Hafenkante and Der Staatsanwalt), he can currently be seen in Verbotene Liebe - Next Generation (RTL+) and the multi-nominated and award-winning film Goldjungs (ARD), as well as in the new Münster Tatort in spring 2022. At the moment, he is shooting in a major role for a TV series in Munich.
Through his stays abroad, Carl speaks fluent English, Russian and even the South African click language Xhosa. In his hometown Cologne, he also passionately trains kung fu with a Shaolin grandmaster. Last year, Carl successfully made his debut as a writer and director with his play "Der Mann mit der Melone" (The Man in the Bowler Hat) for a deaf and hearing audience. "The Westerwald Secret" is his first film, as a filmmaker.
