CAPITAL CRIMES
Synopsis
Logline
When a Columbia professor discovers her mother's secret recording revealing a conspiracy to trigger a global financial collapse, she has nine hours to expose the truth—knowing that exposing it might be exactly what activates the weapon.
Brief Synopsis
Jamie Morrison teaches ethics at Columbia but practices none of it—five years after her economist mother Katherine died in a "car accident," Jamie has avoided the truth she always suspected: her father, Senator Richard Morrison, had her killed.
On the fifth anniversary, Jamie finally listens to Katherine's recording from the night she died. She hears her mother's brake lines fail. Hears her mother explain the "doomsday algorithm"—a financial weapon that can crash global markets. And hears her father's voice at the crash site, confessing to murder.
But Katherine left more than evidence. She left a paradox: the algorithm activates when the conspiracy is exposed publicly. To stop it, you have to trigger it. And the only kill-switch is Katherine's death recording—played backwards—broadcast to trading systems at the moment of activation.
With FBI Agent Sofia Martinez and financial analyst Dr. Elizabeth Chang, Jamie races to decrypt Katherine's hidden evidence, flip conspirators, and reach her father's press conference before he triggers the weapon himself. But the architect of the conspiracy—imprisoned financial mastermind David Sterling—is watching, waiting, and playing his own endgame from his prison cell.
In 90 minutes of real-time financial warfare, Jamie must choose: stay silent and let her father become president on her mother's grave, or expose the truth and risk collapsing the global economy.
The answer requires proving that human choice can override algorithmic certainty—that collective action can defeat systemic corruption—and that a dead woman's love can be stronger than a living man's greed.
A financial thriller about the math of morality and the price of truth.
