Over the past two years Lisa has Produced and Directed all of the videos for Ryder Cooley and the dark carnival band, The Dust Bowl Faeries. The self coined, "music novella" Candy Store is the most recent collaboration between Lisa and the band. The first video Sirens which deals with sexual harassment and misogyny in the music and art worlds was shot at the historic Community Theater in Catskill, NY. The next production was the circus spectacular, Zebra which took home the Best Avant-Garde Music Video at the 2019 L.A. Music Video Awards. If that weren't enough the team paired up again to make the 16mm black and white film, Vampire Tango paying homage to films of the silent era and earlier this year Lisa created the animated short Ghosts of Love to commemorate some of the first lives lost to the novel coronavirus.

Director Statement

I knew that I wanted to direct a music video for the Dust Bowl Faeries song, Candy Store the first time I ever saw the band perform it live. There was an obvious energy to the song which got audiences attention every time I saw it performed and I could always see the visuals vividly play out in my mind. The fact that Ryder Cooley's grandmother taught her the song and that her grandfather was a candy salesmen in real life meant we could draw upon some rich family history and details for the piece. The photos on the wall both in the Candy Store set and in the last scene are all actual photos of Ryder's grandparents. The biggest challenge of the piece from a technical standpoint was how to achieve the look of burning down a candy shop without having a Hollywood FX budget which editor, Fabrizio Fama' and I planned for at length prior to the commencement of filming.
