Candace Egan is a native Californian who currently lives near Yosemite National Park. She is a screenwriter, semi-retired professor of Film and Media Arts at Fresno State and an avid tennis player. She began her career when she was seduced by the moving image and became the first female news videographer at the TV station where she worked, later she was the only woman in a media production department and then she became the only female digital film/video professor at her university. She’s had a long career as a non-fiction visual storyteller, exploring stories about a breadth of people such as the first Hmong women to go to college, an American WWII POW from a Nazi death camp, a Portuguese-American congressman, competitive wheelchair tennis players and a U.S. Poet Laureate. Her life and career lead her to write female-driven, inspirational dramas about mature, authentic women who transform into vibrant, adventurous versions of themselves. She has received several accolades for her screenplays including: a finalist in the 2022 California Women’s Film Festival, semi-finalist in the 2023 ScreenCraft TV Pilot Competition, semi-finalist in the Reno-Tahoe Screenwriting Contest, quarterfinalist in the 2022 CineStory Feature Retreat competition, and Official Selections of the Fall 2022 Big Apple Film Festival, 2022 Sacramento International Film Festival and Winter 2022 Toronto International Women Festival screenplay competitions.
