Director Statement

Writing movies, especially ones that you are passionate about and worked on, is hard. But it's even harder when you have to rewrite the script and essentially cut and reshape
your movie to fit a format - this is a tale as old as the beginning of Hollywood and I want to explore this reoccurring theme in an extreme sense, and I found it was best
done through the lens of horror.

"CUT IT!" is the story of a girl named Catherine who goes on a date with a guy named Austin. At first the date goes fine, but as the night goes on, everything takes a turn for the worse. Slowly, we see that Austin isn’t who he says he is and come to find that their date is actually inside a movie - one that takes a turn for the worse when people in the real world start cutting it,
literally in control of Catherine’s fate.

I wrote this film as a vehicle to vent about the restrictions of making a film, both bureaucratically and existentially - but ironically at the same time, it’s liberating and
stimulating to be able to make a film like this by being forced to cut it.
