SIMONE MARINO was born in Rome, Italy, in 1996. After graduating in Philosophy at Università di Roma La Sapienza, in 2019 he works on a cinema set for the first time, for Paolo Sorrentino’s The New Pope and then as Chiara Polizzi’s casting assistant for Emanuele Crialese’s L’immensità. Thanks to his first short movie titled A Son he was adimetted at director class of Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia (Cinema National School). He shots in 2021 The hedgehog’s dilemm; in 2022 Houseparty (screened for some weeks at Roma’s Nuovo Cinema Aquila) and The case is closed, go in peace. It has been commisioned to Centro Sperimentale by Cam Sugar Record Company for Piombo, a playlist of the best poliziottesco musics of ‘70s. Its premiere took place in Torino Film Festival and then it’s invited in many other italian, european and asian fillm festivals. In 2023 he shots his graduating short movie, The oddity in the blue crayfish, under the supervision of Paolo Sorrentino. It was presented at RIFF 2023, Los Angeles Italia 2024 and in many other italian and foreign festivals. In 2023 he was choosen by Centro Sperimentale and Campari to direct a branding campaign that was presented at Venice Film Festival in the same year, titled Red Rail. After Centro Sperimentale, in 2024 he works on the set of Luca Guadagnino’s Queer; as casting assistant of Ciro De Caro’s Taxi Mon Amour and Giuseppe Piccioni’s Zvanì; as personal assistanto of Damien Chazelle and Olivia Hamilton during their italian stay. In august he was admitted to Laguna Film Lab artist residency, created by Andrea Segre director: during it, he shots his last short movie, Crush, presented at Venice Film Festival’s Giornate degli Autori. The short movie is actually being ditributed. In november his first music video is out, La Nausea, for singer\tiktoker Reju.
