CRAT

A hungry crow swoops down to snatch up an unsuspecting rat, but instead finds itself, and the rat, in the path of an oncoming car. The driver is a tall stranger with glowing red goggles. He gathers the broken remains and brings them to his lab, where he reassembles them into a Frankenstein-like cyborg creature: the CRAT.
Combining 2D and 3D animation, CRAT is a dark science fiction short film with roots in film and comic book noir. These influences inform the intense, stylized lighting of the characters and their environment, as well as the limited colour palette. 3D renders make up the gritty, near-deserted cityscape and futuristic laboratory.

Director Biography - Alireza Razzaghi

Alireza Razzaghi is a skilled photographer and aspiring animator located in Toronto,
Canada. He has honed his craft over the course of a decade, developing a talent for capturing stunning images that resonate with his viewers.

Originally from Mashhad, Iran, Alireza began his photography journey using vintage film cameras while studying at the Tehran University of Art and Design, which he still employs in his professional work, providing a unique touch of authenticity.

Alireza is constantly experimenting with different styles and techniques to push his limits and produce exceptional results. In addition to his photography, Alireza is also an animator studying animation at OCAD University with 4 years of experience, diversifying his creative skillset and exploring new avenues for storytelling.
