Synopsis
Writer Kate Williams and songwriter Tan Zander have only ever worked together from a distance. But when she announces that she wants to meet him in person, he ends the relationship with a text message. When she goes to his house to confront him, she discovers a long-hidden secret in a box that reveals his true identity.

Director Biography - Sophie von Rheden, Aaron Jean

Sophie is a self-taught, multi-award-winning screenwriter who inspires with her powerful female characters. Together with her first-time cinematographer and Co-director, Aaron, they take on the exciting journey of debut filmmaking with this short film. Sophie also penned the lyrics for this heartfelt romantic drama, beautifully composed by Spanish maestro Simarro.

Director Statement

I wrote a film designed for me to be able to direct. Thanks to an outstanding volunteer cast and crew we cared to prove together with our talented co-producer and art director Kerstin that passion and storytelling could triumph over financial limitations.

Concept:
In our contemporary society, stepfamilies reflect a rich tapestry of relationships—

Inspiration:
It's dedicated to strong female voices, to those mature women who are seeking second chances.

Vision:
Caught In A Love Trap follows a woman in her sixties navigating a blended family, where an unspoken love forms between her and her stepson. This is not about scandal but about the unspoken emotions, the love that can never be.

To underscore this forbidden love, I wrote an original song, Caught In A Love Trap, mirroring the film’s tension.
Our tagline, “Every Love Has Its Shadow,” speaks to the unseen forces shaping our desires.
