Burnt to Flourish

“Burnt to Flourish” is a raw and emotional reflection of the impossible mission to host the first Song Festival of the Radio Television of Kosova 24 years after the devastating war in 1999.
The last Song Festival of the Radio Television of Prishtina, Kosova's preceding public broadcaster was staged in 1990 before Slobodan Milosevic's police forcefully expelled its professional staff from their working premises.
Besides, the lack of experience in organizing such events, the festival's producers faced another obstacle, how to host a festival at Prishtina's burned-down Youth Palace, which was unable to host public events since 2001 when it was engulfed by a massive uncontrollable fire.

Statement from Adrian Krasta, the director of "Burnt to Flourish"

The inaugural edition of the Kosovo Song Festival, organized by Public Radio Television, unfolded at the iconic Burnt Hall. It was never meant to be captured on film. The camera started rolling almost by chance. It captured everything, just as a film director would. The Burnt Hall underwent restoration, only to be engulfed in flames once more, before a sudden rainstorm stole the spotlight. Meanwhile, in a location 39 kilometers away from the orchestra rehearsing, a paramilitary attack took place, casting a shadow of terrorism over North Mitrovica. In Prishtina, Kosovo, we witnessed the triumph of the first song festival's champion. This documentary captures the courageous endeavor of a community determined to thrive once more.
