Director Biography - Jane Doucette

Hello! My name is Jane Doucette, and I have always been a creative. Whether it was collaging or painting or knitting or filmmaking, I have had a strong drive to create art. My love of film over the course of my adolescence fostered a desire for visual storytelling that I am pursuing as my career. I graduated from Northeastern University in August 2023, with a major in Media and Screen Studies and minors in Film Production and Psychology. I am a filmmaker, and my academic and career experience has fueled a desire for me to work in the entertainment industry.

Since July of 2022 I have been the in-house videographer and photographer for the MCCA at their two Boston convention centers: the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center and the Hynes Convention Center. I have been able to capture awesome events such as Comic Con and PAX East, and have even photographed Boston’s mayor Michelle Wu!

During my time at Northeastern, I studied both film theory and all phases of the production process. In Intro to Film Production, I learned about the pre-production and post-production processes and became skilled with Adobe Premiere Pro to edit footage. I took Narrative Filmmaking in my junior year of college and became familiar with DSLR and Sony Mirrorless cameras, LED lighting equipment, and Zoom audio equipment. I created four short films throughout the semester, some of which you can view on my YouTube. I became well versed in Adobe Audition during my Sound Production class last summer.

My Television Field Production class in Spring 2023 significantly grew my experience in film production. As a class we created two scene recreations, and I created three more short films in this class. One of my films, Bukowski Banter, received a Northeastern Production Achievement award and admittance in NXNEU, Northeastern’s annual film festival. I was also a camera operator for my professor’s anamorphic lens demo in April 2023. In May and June of 2023, I attended a study abroad program to London and created Projecting Voices, a documentary with my peers capturing the city’s indie film scene.

Post graduation, I am now a full-time Communications and External Relations Coordinator at the MCCA, where I continue my work in event videography. I often act as a 1st and 2nd AC for various indie productions around Massachusetts. In terms of personal projects I am currently in post-production for my Capstone horror short Bounty, working with a Berklee College of Music student to create a compelling score to complement the film. In December we wrapped filming for J.P. Flix’s second short film, Frontman, which I was the DP for. In late January I was the cameraman for a promotional video made for MadeIncubator’s Living Art Boston. This Spring, I will DP and AC for several thesis short films and capture Northeastern University Dance Company’s Spring Showcase.
