Bucharest International Dance Film Festival is a platform for exquisite films that use movement as their main language or the body as their main subject. Faced with the camera lenses the body becomes the main focus of cutting edge art house films with a sometimes transparent and sometimes coded meaning, challenging the viewer to a playful exchange of information about social life, politics, extreme emotions, interesting places and oddly beautiful aesthetics. BIDFF encourages syncretism and dialogue between movement and the diverse forms of cinema from the most traditional to experimental, animation, musical or video art. Besides the screenings, BIDFF organizes panels, exhibitions, public presentations and production labs. The festival takes place in multiple locations in Bucharest in September each year.

BIDFF awards excellence, novelty and courage in filmmaking, with a prize pool of 3000 euro. The festival offers partial subsidies for accommodation and flight and accreditation to selected film directors.
Awards:
*Best International Film
*Best Romanian Film
*Best Musical

Bucharest International Dance Film Festival invites film directors, choreographers, visual artists, animators and musicians to submit their short films and/or long films's scripts in development to the fifth edition of the festival. The fifth edition of the festival takes place between the 4th and the 8th of September 2019 in Bucharest.

BIDFF gets bigger and more diverse. Besides our regular international and national competition dedicated to short dance films, this year we have opened new competitional category for musicals. Moreover, we highly encourage you to apply if you have a movement themed animation or if you have a film that is centered around the concept of embodyment.

The board will take into considerations fiction, documentary and musical films, that either use movement to explore an idea, either speak about issues related to the body and the world of dance. The competition is dedicated only to short films.
