John Costellow is the President and CEO of Smile Time Studios, an independent, full-service video and photography business specializing in commercials, short films, documentaries, and music videos. His journey into the world of filmmaking began in high school, where he joined the video production class and produced segments for the school news. This early experience ignited his passion for film, which has continued to burn brightly ever since.
Since graduating, John has gone on to produce a wide range of projects, including a commercials, documentaries, and films. In addition to his own productions, John has worked behind the scenes on several music videos and short films as a boom operator, gaffer, and camera operator. His diverse experience across different aspects of production has shaped his approach to filmmaking, making him a well-rounded director with a unique vision.
Broughton: The Awakening is John's latest and most ambitious project, showcasing his growth as a filmmaker and his dedication to storytelling that combines heart, action, and suspense.
Broughton: The Awakening is, without a doubt, my most daring project to date. It's a film that dives headfirst into a world of monsters, heart, and intense action. This isn't just a story about battles between good and evil; it's about what drives us to protect the people we love, even when the odds are insurmountable.
From the very beginning, I knew this film would be a rollercoaster ride, both on-screen and behind the scenes. Bringing these characters to life, especially Buck Gatlin and his fierce fight to protect his granddaughter Sadie, was a challenge that pushed every creative boundary. And while it was tough, I wouldn't trade the experience for anything. It’s the kind of journey that tests your limits, but in the end, it leaves you with memories you’ll cherish forever.
At its core, Broughton: The Awakening is about courage, sacrifice, and family, wrapped in a thrilling, monster-filled spectacle. It’s a film that I believe will resonate with audiences on a deep level, and I couldn't be prouder of the team that helped bring this vision to life.
This film is for anyone who loves action, who believes in the strength of family, and who, like Buck Gatlin, never backs down from a fight.
