Bloom in the concrete
Silvia, a Coahuilense teenager, arrives alone in Mexico City fleeing from a forced marriage and looking for a new life, but in there she'll meet Darien (a charming troubled skateboarder who will lead Silvia to experience her own lifestyle), risking her dream of starting from scratch and getting out of abusive relationships.

Born in November 2nd, 2003. Her inner world developed quite fast for a kid as she tried to escape her own world and also her ability to tell stories to keep herself distracted.
She always thought in image and words, making her first tale compilation when she was in 2nd grade. As time passed she kept her mind on her pen, but also kept on having a curiosity on film. She started reading scripting and became fluent in the cinematic language being able to dive in the psychological depth of story telling as her coping mechanism.
At 17 she started studying film in Arte 7, where she polished her writing skills and cinematic techniques; creating the script for No Place Like Home, or her documentary This Is What Makes Us Women. At 20 she had the opportunity to go to Italy making Esequie and Brindisi Per Domani. She is usually inspired by her own livings, or people who have passed through her life making her work personal and vulnerable. Being more experienced in video essays, video art or documentary, Bloom in the concrete is her first fictional film.
This short film was born from the need to transform solitude into a shared experience, and to imagine the possibility of a reality beyond the cycle of abuse in which many women find themselves trapped.
Living in a city inhabited by millions leads us to believe that we go unnoticed, as if we were shadows dissolving into one another, forgetting our own human need for connection and intimacy, even when those encounters are brief or fragile.
I am interested in exploring the emotional ambivalence of my characters within a city that consumes and constantly demands from them. In this environment, making mistakes seems like a condemnation, yet the film proposes the opposite: that error is not a definitive sentence, and that redemption lies in confrontation and self-forgiveness.
I wanted to create a sensitive and intimate short film, inhabited by polarized characters, trapped within a violent space that limits their ability to decide over their own survival. A young woman marked by the violence of her surroundings, who nonetheless allows herself to dream of something beyond what has been imposed on her.
