Brooklyn Baby

Lucy, a young professional white woman who lives alone in Brooklyn, leads a rather self-serving and predictable life... until one night when a stranger suddenly shows up at her doorstep. We quickly learn that she is an illegal Syrian refugee and she’s bearing a child that will be born within days. A collision of cultures ensues and a heartwarming drama unfolds — at times tense and at others comical — putting Lucy’s ethics and character to the biggest test of her life.

We all would like to think that, when faced with a situation like Lucy's, we’d do the right thing, but none of us really knows for sure until we are truly tested. What would you do when you need to risk something, or everything, to step out on the ledge to help a stranger? Being the son of an immigrant, it upsets me to see the treatment of men, women and especially children trying to immigrate to this country. This present-day controversial issue strikes at the core of the beliefs upon which this country was founded. Brooklyn Baby was my way of addressing this serious subject while adding a little humor along the way to help lighten the load. Let’s work together to keep the conversation going on this ever so important topic. Enjoy the film!
