Davis DeRock began acting and filmmaking in 2003. He graduated the American Musical and Dramatic Academy of Los Angeles in 2007 and has since created and acted in numerous films, commercials, and plays. He continues to create films and sketches with his co-owned company C2D2Films. When he isn’t working Davis enjoys spending time with the love of his life Shawna and their two dogs.
Karen Elizabeth has contributed to over 60 film projects since 2014. Filling roles as a producer, unit production manager, assistant director, writer, story consultant, and script supervisor, she has taken part in projects including feature films and award-winning documentary and narrative short films. Karen most enjoys the problem-solving opportunities that keep filmmaking exciting and finds the connections with others that make the work rewarding. She is oft referred to as “the glue that holds us all together.”
When creating a film for a timed competition in which no pre-writing is permitted, filmmakers must think quickly and operate efficiently to tell an entertaining story. In the making of BROKEN TRAIL, we had a general concept about a conscience-stricken man, then the required competition elements and the assigned Western genre shaped the film. BROKEN TRAIL raises classic psychological horror questions about the nature of guilt.
