Brightness of Brightness
Aogán Ó Rathaille is on course to become an Irish bard when a controversial poem lands him in exile.
Angered by evictions and the felling of Sliabh Luachra's forests in the wake of Cromwell's invasion of Ireland, Aogán Ó Rathaille writes a poem to insult the local landlord. In 1704, he is exiled to a life of poverty by the sea near Castlemaine Harbour. There he writes poems that live on in Irish culture long after his death.
