Experiencing Interruptions?

Boxcar Wizards

Boxcar Wizards and Hobo Goddesses were gathered by the jungle fire
Voices in song and guitars plunked along in a frenzy of freedom's desire.

From those purple mountains to the fruited plain
They had ridden the rails to hell...
The picked the fruit and gutted the fish
And they had the stories to tell.

Of railroad bulls and small town mob
Christian "charity" didn't ring true
For they turned ' em all out when the work was all done
Yellin' hit the road you bums you!

But tonight by the fire no bosses sat down
And the hobos enjoyed their meal
It was mulligan stew with a potato or two
And even the chicken was real!

They danced round the fire and laughed
and they sang smiling the toothiest grin
And the bottle passed round made them howl like
a hound for they'd cobbled some Beefeaters gin

In that wooded grove where the wild winds blow
Near the railroad tracks out of town
What euphoria reigned, in the name hoppin trains
It took a while till they finally calmed down

And the moon smiled down on those knights of
the road of those ladies of the long highway
And theynsettled in for the night and at least life was right
For a while till the break of the day.....for a while til the break of the day.

Inspired by the stream of consciousness poetics of "The Mayor of Bucktown" (Chicago) Kevin Burrows, "Boxcar Wizards" was animated with the same sense of freedom and wonder!
