Marta Di Giovanni is an Italian born director and cinematographer. She studied film in Italy before making her move to Ireland where she has continued her studies and has applied her skills in filmmaking. Her recent documentary, "Tatiana", has been met with international success in it's current festival run and she has worked with Turlough on several other projects that will soon make their way onto the festival circuit. She has an incredible eye and is an endless source of ideas.
Turlough Ó Cinnéide founded Dolmen Films in 2016. Turlough was born in Clare, Ireland, near a small village by the name of Scariff. At the age of 16 he went to sea working on the Tall Ships. It was there that he first got his taste for filming. Turlough is an award-winning Director, his short film, "Gaslight", winning 6 awards and 30 nominations in international film festivals. He is the driving force behind Dolmen Films.
My upbringing has shaped how I approach my work and the things that capture my interest. Raised on a small homestead in Ireland, I was given a childhood that many can only dream of. It was full of hard work - dirty and, sometimes, bloody work - but not a moment of it do I regret. From the haymaking on hot summer days and washing off in the stream at night, to preparing the Christmas geese with my mother, we were given a grounding that lay close to the land and were taught to respect it and those around us. One of my favourite memories, and one we still do, was to sit around the open fire, 6ft. wide, and listen to my mother tell tales of little fairies, strange ghostly stories, and all of the old local legends. It is that memory I wish to share, and I wish to share one of the stories that lies very close to my heart for many reasons. -- Turlough Ó Cinnéide
