Born in July 1989, Tehran, Iran
Spent the first six years of his life in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. Later returned to his hometown of Tehran.
Graduated from high school in 2007, and entered into the computer science program at Sharif University of Technology. In 2009 he became the Vice President of Academics at Cinema Sharif, Sharif University of Technology’s prominent film club, where he organized screenings, classes, and review sessions.
Also was a prominent songwriter and musician in the local music band Artia.
Moved to Vancouver, BC, Canada in 2011. Became a member of the Vancouver Community Arts Council (CACV) and the Federation of Canadian Artists (FCA). In 2012 he entered the art program at the University of British Columbia, majoring in psychology. It was there that he made his first short film, De Rigueur (2013). He also became the Vice President of Culture and Academics at “UBC Persian Club,” the society of Iranian students at UBC. At the same time, he furthered his career as a solo musician, while playing in local cover bands.
Returned to Tehran in 2015 and entered the film program at Tehran University of Art. He made his second short film Tally in 2015.
In 2015 he became the international director at the 1st Tehran International Silent Film Festival, and in 2016 became the head of foreign affairs at the Globe International Silent Film Festival.

I’ve always been fascinated with adapting pieces of literature into cinema. I was in sixth grade when a creative writing teacher who used to read us stories from the more obscure end of the scale, read us “The Blue Bouquet” by Octavio Paz. The obscurity, absurdism, and general vagueness of the story, alongside its visual details and imagery had me going back to it every year or so, and peele more and more layers every time.
In adapting this story into a short film, my main goal was to picture the images that are so perfectly presented in the story, while maintaining the vagueness, the coldness, and the general lack of emotion that is felt when reading the story.
The film is about a young man residing in a motel in a rural town. When he decides to get out of his room to get some fresh air, he is warned by the doorman to stay in and watch the talk show on TV. The young man disregarding the doorman’s warning walks outside and is faced with a man on a hunt for blue eyes.
Revisiting this story numerous times has allowed me to see the story in a new light every time I read it. In the film, I’ve tried to focus on the aspect of the general obsession the public has with celebrities and their “blue eyes.” By adding the element of the talk show to the original story, I’ve tried to emphasize this aspect of the story further. I’ve also tried to focus on the contrast between the inner peace and inner warmth of any given person with the coldness of the outside world, which begs drastic measures in the end.
All in all, what I’ve tried to do with this film is to capture the cold essence of the story, as well as the contrasting poetry and warmness, and the general vagueness it possesses.
