Moath Asmar is a Palestinian film director, screenwriter, and cinematography trainer from Nablus. His work is known for its emotional depth, strong visual language, and focus on Palestinian identity and lived reality. He studied Graphic Design at An-Najah National University and is pursuing a master’s degree in Cinema and Television, researching the dramatic use of lighting in Palestinian cinema.
Asmar directed several films, including “Lifer” (2024), “Bloody Eyeliner” (2023), and “Ramadan Kareem” (2022). His films have screened at international festivals and earned notable recognition, including Best Film at the Alawda International Festival.
Alongside directing, he provides advanced training in filmmaking and visual storytelling, supporting the development of emerging Palestinian filmmakers.
My films explore the lived reality of Palestine through intimate, visually driven storytelling. I focus on moments where light, silence, and emotion reveal truths that words cannot. As a director, I feel a responsibility to preserve memory, challenge erasure, and portray my people with honesty and dignity. Through each project, I aim to craft cinema that is authentic, human, and rooted in place.
