After 22 years of estrangement, Dana Wall tries to reach her parents the morning after the October 7th Hamas attack on Israel—and discovers her sister has blocked her number. As antisemitism surges across college campuses and American cities, Dana receives a package: a legal file containing hundreds of her own desperate emails to her family, meticulously organized by her lawyer mother as evidence of Dana's alleged abuse. With only one response in 22 years—"Life is too short to be abused by one's child"—Dana realizes her family erased her long before the world began erasing Jews. Traveling to Virginia to support her daughter at UVA (where torch-bearing white supremacists once chanted "Jews will not replace us"), Dana must choose: keep begging for acceptance, or delete their contacts and write herself back into existence.
