Julia van Oppen is a 2D artist who finds inspiration from the female figure, fashion, and other forms of design. She is interested in the design process behind creating an animation. Julia mainly creates work in a digital space but finds exploring and incorporating traditional mediums such as gouache, paint markers and lino printing in her works enjoyable. She aims to create a feeling of looking into a fleeting moment into the lives of her subject.
The story behind the film was inspired by the relationship between my Dutch grandparents. After her husband's funeral, my grandma told me a story about how after a movie date, my grandpa had left her in the rain outside the cinema because he was more scared of being scolded by his mother for getting his suit wet than upsetting her. "Nope. This isn't happening again. This is over." my grandma thought. Despite that incident, they continued seeing each other and eventually got married and had kids.
This sparked the idea for a film about the little annoying moments in a relationship and how a loving bond still remains despite them happening. We hope you love this film just as much as we did working on it!
