Michael Marco is a French-American filmmaker. He was born Michaël Joseph Raymond Marco, in Toulon, France. The son of Lyna Pont, a French Navy employee and François Marco, a talented carpenter. His parents are both from Spanish decent.
Marco got bit by the acting bug at an early age while performing in a summer camp play.
He grew up watching American and French classics such as The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966), The Great Escape (1963), Le Samouraï (1967), The Night Caller (1975), The Towering Inferno (1974), Death Wish (1974), Dirty Harry (1971), Buffet Froid (1979), and the list goes on and on...
In the '80s, Marco was lucky to have found a video group in the little town he grew up in, who took a few kids under their wing and gave them proper training in production and post-production. They let the teenagers borrow the equipment and taught them how to work a U-matic editing bench. They started writing and shooting short films.
Marco ended the last year of junior high by acting in the short play "Edouard et Agrippine" de René de Obaldia, a story written with three characters and one location. It was just enough for the acting bug to permanently sink its teeth into him.
In June of 1993, Marco was accepted to the prestigious Les Beaux-Arts school and was set to enroll in the fall, but he came to Texas during that summer and never left. When Marco moved to Dallas, in 1993, it was inevitable that he would get into the film and TV business.
Today Marco lives in Texas with his wife Jennifer. He is an award-winning writer and filmmaker, a seasoned editor and a passionate actor... who now produces as well.
I have carried with me the idea for “BLIND BLOOD” since the mid-1990’s.
In 2004, while at the American Film Market seeking distribution for my first narrative feature film, I couldn’t stop thinking about this idea for a dark drama. It kept haunting me. I was intrigued and felt challenged to write a screenplay based (mainly) around one location with a small cast.
It is not until years later, after collaborating on several projects, including the award winning short film/music video “CHAROGNE,” with Director of Photography/Executive Producer Richard Krall and Actor/ Producer Mark Hanson, that the idea for “BLIND BLOOD” materialized.
Since “CHAROGNE” received a positive response during its run in the film festival circuit, we decided to stay with the genre. I was drawn to the dark side of human nature. Krall and Hanson didn’t seem to mind.
After a few drafts, the screenplay was ready to be shopped around. From NYC to LA and everywhere in between, we pursued every opportunity that we came across. During that time the screenplay received some attention in a few screenplay competitions. It was optioned by a production company from Texas for four and a half years, while we were encountering roadblocks in regards to securing funds.
In 2017 we finally came to an impasse. Should we continue searching for funding or simply decide to produce the movie ourselves.
As filmmakers, it has always been very important to us that we do not compromise our integrity as storytellers. Our intent from the beginning has been to produce a movie with high production value and a disturbing, yet entertaining story that would keep the audience on the edge of their seats.
