Blame the Devil

Blame the Devil tells the poignant story of the Ojirika family, whose lives are upended by the insidious grip of religious fanaticism. Chioma, the bright and promising daughter, finds herself at the centre of a crisis when she becomes pregnant out of wedlock. Her mother, Mrs. Ojirika, a devout woman, has long prioritised her religious obligations above all else, effectively abdicating her parental responsibilities to the church.

Director Statement

"Blame the Devil" was born from a deep concern over the often-unseen consequences of misplaced devotion. In our modern world, the pursuit of spiritual fulfilment can, paradoxically, lead to the neglect of our most fundamental responsibilities, particularly within the family unit. This film explores the painful truth that when parents prioritise dogma over direct engagement, the fragile fabric of family can unravel, leaving profound and lasting scars.
