Black Note

A short documentary that explores the hidden histories of black culture across the city of Manchester. Which follows presenters Beach and Charlie as they cover stories from music artists linked to the rich history behind black culture, and share their thoughts on the way it’s represented in today’s world and the effect it has on themselves, the industry and society as a whole.

Director Biography - Charlie Johan James Vjestica, Beach Rohan Darnley

Charlie Johan James Vjestica and Beach Rohan Darnley are British filmmakers from the borough of stockport in Greater Manchester, United Kingdom. In their younger years, Vjestica and Darnley perused an acting careers, appearing in a multitude of stage productions across their home town. Their pursuit of an acting career lasted from their early years to his late teens, where they finally began to reevalutate their chosen career path, they believed acting didn't allow them to completely utilise their creative skills to their fullest potential, and as a result gave up their acting careers for a more behind the curtain career path. The two of them still have a high admiration for actors and the art as a whole, and has sometimes gone to step in as actors in his own productions in recent history.

In 2021, Darnley and Vjestica along with their close friend Will Grant decided to begin setting up a small production company titled 'Legacy Cinema', which has gone on to he recognised for awards such as the 2022 Aldridge Film Festival, where their debut film 'Black Note' was nominated for the best documentary category, Vjestica was also selected to host the awards ceremony for its many prestigious guests. The three of them have worked closely with clients around Media City UK, where their company is stationed. Their work consists of film crew for people such as Britain's Got Talent winner John Courtney, the Lowery Theatre and smaller clients such as work within schools. Charlie and Beach have been life long friends since their early years at Arden Primary School, they share the same ideology and creative minds when it comes to filmmaking which is one of the main reasons they decided to set up Legacy Cinema to begin with.
