Inspired by his grandfather’s wisdom and the call of his Kenyan heritage, Joseph transforms lives by guiding inner-city Black and Brown youth from Jersey City on a journey of self-discovery—bridging continents, building legacies, and creating a ripple of generational wealth and empowerment.

Through the eyes of Joseph Nyamwange, a first-generation Kenyan American, this documentary weaves a heartfelt narrative of family, heritage, and resilience. Fueled by the enduring lessons of his late grandfather, Joe channels his father’s migration story into a life mission: empowering Black and Brown youth in Jersey City, NJ. His foundation offers scholarships, leadership training, and the Birthright Africa experience, an initiative that takes students to Kenya to uncover the roots of their identity.
The film follows the emotional arcs of these young scholars as they walk the streets of the motherland, learn untold stories of African history, and reflect on their place in a global legacy.
