Anwar Johari Ho is a filmmaker from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Having difficulty in pinpointing his actual racial identity and multicultural background, his films tend to dwell on transnational relationships and its implications on everyday life, in an attempt to discover his self identity.
He graduated with an MA in Film from the University of Reading, UK where his master’s thesis short film Forget Me Not won him awards at local and international film festivals.
The film won Best International Short Film and Best Sound Design at Jaffna International Cinema Festival 2019 and Seashorts Film Festival 2019 respectively as well as being selected at the prestigious Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival (2019). He is currently in the script development phase for his feature film debut.
In his spare time, Anwar enjoys the simple pleasures of playing as a cowboy in a video game, awaiting for the reunion of Korean Pop phenomenon Big Bang, and of course, watching films.
