Interested in creating things no one cares about since childhood, Ewan Shepherd's earliest project was a clay-mation zombie film; the set pieces were made out of cardboard, it was photographed on his Dad's flip phone, and the protagonist had bright red hands. Like all great pieces of lost culture, a failure to archive the footage has left it to fond (?) memories.
Since that debut, he has begun writing and recording music with his friend (?) Joe Conway under the name The Room Upstairs. He has also worked on a number of music videos and short films, such as Dog Walkers (2020), which was a semi-finalist at Sunday Shorts Film Festival and awarded best original short at the Thundr Short Film Showcase (October 2020).
Ewan's other creative interests and hobbies include writing and illustration. He is currently attending an MA in scriptwriting at the University of Central Lancashire.
He has recently developed a habit in which he talks about himself in the third person.
I'm sorry.
Hello! See the game last night? What a wild one!
Now that we're through the small talk, I'd like to open up a bit (we've gotten to know each other pretty well, right?). So, honesty time: firstly? I sincerely hope you enjoy watching Billie Lives In A Box should you give it a look. It's my third animated short, inspired by animators such as George Dunning and John & Faith Hubley, telling the story of someone reluctant to leave their home and enter the outside world.
Secondly, I don't know anything about sport - like, at all. I sincerely hope I haven't misled you too much; please accept the film as an attempt to make up for it.
Thank you so much for your time, and all the best in facing the outside world,
Ewan Shepherd
