Ana Trkulja, a native of Belgrade, is an accomplished film director, producer, and founder of the Berlin-based production company, Cookies & Movies. She honed her directing skills at the Academy of Fine Arts in Hamburg (HfbK) under the guidance of renowned German film director Wim Wenders. Additionally, Ana holds degrees in Media Studies from Humboldt University and German Language and Literature from the Faculty of Philology in Belgrade.
Throughout her career, Ana has created a diverse portfolio of films, including short, experimental, documentary, and feature films in English, French, German, and Serbian (Junebug, And Yet It Moves, Who Fucked Johnny Depp?, Prendre Son Pied). In 2020, her company expanded to produce audiobooks in English and Japanese, with The Monkey and the Wild, Wild Wind by Ryerson Johnson winning the 1963 Jane Adams Children's Book Award for promoting the concept of world peace.
Ana has enjoyed a long-standing collaboration with theater director Stephan Stroux, and together they have developed numerous multimedia projects, showcased at intriguing venues during the Long Night of Industry. One of her notable productions with Brotfabrik is the film Two Suns, which explores the inclusion of children and adults with disabilities through various art forms.
Currently, Ana is involved in the production of the film Cattre, starring Iggy Pop, and is editing Captain Michalis and 6 Virgins. In the past year, she has attended several acting workshops centered on the Meisner Technique at the Michael Chekhov Actor's Studio in Boston. Ana played a Japanese Buddhist with "extra people" alongside Johnny Depp in the film Minamata.
With a passion for languages, yoga, and her cherished elephant in Kenya, Ana Trkulja continues to make her mark in the world of film and storytelling.
This is a short existential movie based on my own experience.
So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.
